The LAX FlyAway® buses offer convenient regularly scheduled round-trips, seven days a week, between each terminal at LAX and these locations:

About FlyAway

The LAX FlyAway® bus service is provided by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), the owner and operator of Los Angeles International (LAX) and Van Nuys (VNY) general aviation airports. LAWA is a department of the City of Los Angeles. 

The intent of the LAX FlyAway® service is to mitigate traffic congestion and air pollution in the area surrounding LAX airport. 

LAWA contracts the FlyAway® bus service to private operators through a competitive bidding process. 

LAX FlyAway® buses provide scheduled ground transportation between LAX airport and the following locations:

The service was provided between LAX and Irvine Transportation Center from November 2009 and August 2012, at La Brea/Expo Line metro station from June 2013 to August 2014, at Santa Monica from July 2014 to September 2016, at Orange Line in San Fernando Valley from December 2015 to January 2019, and at Westwood from June 2007 to June 2019. All five services were discontinued due to low ridership.

You may purchase in person by credit/debit card, or online: www.LAXFlyAway.org
Tickets may be purchased at the bus or destination termination booth with Visa, MasterCard or American Express credit or debit cards.
Currently, cash may be used to purchase tickets at Metrolink ticket vending machines located at Union Station. No other routes accept cash at this time. If asked to pay cash, please report the incident to FlyAwayComments@lawa.org.
Union Station/Van Nuys routes
You can show the FlyAway driver either a hard copy or electronic copy of your confirmation email.

Hollywood/Long Beach routes– no ticket via email
You will receive an email receipt. You can show the receipt from your phone or tablet or provide the confirmation number to the bus driver.
Tickets are good for 30 days from the date of purchase and are good for any time of day. We are unable to provide extensions or refunds.
There are no direct senior discounts on the FlyAway but you can purchase an EZ transit pass and ride the FlyAway with discounts. Please visit Metro and Fares/Buy Tickets for more information.
No, all sales are final. Tickets are valid 30-days from the date of purchase.

No. They are subject to normal fares. However, they have the option to purchase a monthly pass for $120. Employee monthly passes are available for purchase at:

Our regularly scheduled service operates during the holiday seasons.
Please arrive 10 minutes before the scheduled departure time. For safety reasons, no boarding is permitted two minutes prior to bus departure.
Trained service animals are allowed to accompany qualified customers with disabilities on the bus. A service animal should sit in the floor space in front of the customer's seat but cannot protrude into the aisles to comply with safety regulations. Non-service animals are required to be in a suitable carrier and must fit completely under the seat in front of the customer and remain there at all times.
No, a car seat is not required. Parents can choose to hold babies on their laps and stow the car seat or opt to have the baby ride in the car seat on the bus.
Yes, all FlyAway buses are wheelchair accessible.
The FlyAway bus service is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Passenger Drop Off/Pick Up:

Private vehicles are no longer allowed to enter the Plaza. They must use the new passenger drop off and pick up facility which is accessible by entering the underground parking garage through either one of two entrances on Vignes St. This new pick up and drop off area for private vehicles is one level below Patsaouras Plaza — the same level that provides access to trains.

Driving Directions

From US 101 Southbound – Exit at Broadway and continue straight on Aliso Street. Turn left on Main Street, right on Cesar E. Chavez Avenue and then right to enter the Gateway Center Garage on Vignes Street.

From US 101 Northbound – Exit at Vignes Street and stay in left lane. Then turn left at traffic light into the entrance of the Gateway Center Garage underground parking.

Parking:
Public parking at Van Nuys FlyAway facility, available only for FlyAway bus patrons at the FlyAway Bus Terminal, is $2 per hour up to $5 maximum per day, with a 30-day limit. All parking areas at the terminal are patrolled regularly by airport security. If you plan to be away more than 30 days, please arrange to be dropped off or picked up at the terminal. A taxi area is also located in front of the terminal. Parking can be limited during peak travel periods.

The FlyAway bus service at Van Nuys only accepts debit or credit cards (VISA, MasterCard and American Express) for ticket purchase.

From the North – Travel south on the I-405 Freeway. Exit at Roscoe Boulevard and turn right. Proceed west approximately ½ mile to Woodley Avenue and turn left. Proceed south approximately one mile to the terminal building and parking.

From the South – Travel north on the I-405 Freeway. Exit Sherman Way (west) and turn right. Proceed west approximately ½ mile to Woodley Avenue and turn right. Proceed north about ½ mile to Saticoy Street to the FlyAway® Terminal and parking.

  • All other LAWA trademarks and copyrighted materials, including any confusingly similar variants, may not be used in association with FlyAway® Data.
  • FlyAway® Data is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. LAWA makes no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied. LAWA disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. LAWA and its employees, officers, directors and agents will not be liable for damages of any kind arising from the use of FlyAway® Data including but not limited to direct, indirect, incidental, punitive and consequential damages.

LAWA reserves the right to modify or revoke this agreement at any time.
